Día de los Muertos

Monday 09 September 2024

Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a day to remember the people who are no longer with us. Although saying goodbye and grieving the loss of a loved one are sad events in our lives, people in Mexico choose to celebrate the lives of the deceased on this day.

To remember the deceased, Mexicans decorate their loved ones’ graves with candles, wreaths, food, paper cuttings and, of course, flowers.

They also dance, sing, eat and talk about fond memories. On 1 November, it is believed that the souls of children come back to earth, followed by the souls of adults on 2 November. Mexicans welcome their nearest and dearest at family celebrations held not only at home, but also in graveyards.

Here, we used Hoja Verde roses, which are available in a wide range of shades, to create a look that works both for remembering loved ones and celebrating life. The roses are robust and long-lasting, making them the perfect remembrance flower.

You can find these and other shades in our .
